Watch out for

  • Collecting without the council's licence risks being moved on and losing future dates (Wellington terms).
  • Collectors who chase or block pedestrians breach permit conditions (NPDC; Wellington).
  • Unsealed or unlabelled containers undermine trust and breach conditions (NPDC; Auckland Transport bylaw).

Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton and New Plymouth all require council approval and most want a registered charity number; Christchurch allows Fridays and Saturdays only, one charity at a time.
