Mother's Day or Father's Day gift stall checklist: before, on the day and after

Before

Book the date on your own grounds or hall so nothing else clashes.
Set the date with the school: the week before Mother's Day (second Sunday in May) or Father's Day (first Sunday in September).
Check previous years' sales; start with about one gift per child, more if families buy for grandparents (School Fundraising Gifts).
Order early from a wholesaler; most dedicated school-gift suppliers found are Australian, so confirm NZ shipping and GST before ordering.
Buy a mix at three or four whole-dollar price points, e.g. $2, $5, $8 (estimate).
Offer pre-loaded orders through the school's online payment system for families who want to send money.

On the day

Brief the helpers: who does what, when, and where the cash box and first aid kit are.
Count the float with two people before you open, and write the total down.
Set up the stall in the hall and take classes through in turn.
Have helpers wrap gifts and put a name tag on each.
Check the delivery as soon as it arrives so problems can be fixed in time (School Fundraising Gifts).

After

Store unsold generic items for the next stall; report the profit to parents.
Count the takings in pairs and bank them within a day or two.
Thank donors, sponsors and helpers, by name where they’re happy with that.

Watch out for

Ordering from overseas too late: freight delays can leave you with no stock (School Fundraising Gifts).
Cheap plastic gifts get complaints from parents about waste.
Children without money miss out; consider a low-price or free option.

Run in school hours with the principal's approval. No NZ gift-stall supplier confirmed; Australian suppliers exist, so check NZ freight and GST early.
