Before

Book the date on your own grounds or hall so nothing else clashes.
Ask the council whether you need a permit.The rules
Read the food-safety rules for fundraising sales and plan safe handling.The rules
Write a one-page safety plan: hazards, who is in charge, first aid, what to do if it rains.
Arrange a first aider and a stocked first aid kit.
Check your group’s insurance covers this.
Decide DIY or a provider; compare fees.
Set a school target and a clear purpose.

While it runs

First aider on site, and everyone knows where the kit is.
Open online sponsor pages per child.
Run class competitions and progress updates.
Plan the course, water stations and first aid.
Run the event.
Chase pledges for a short, fixed window.

After

Report the total and what it will buy.
Bank the money and record it in the books.
Thank donors, sponsors and helpers, by name where they’re happy with that.

Watch out for

Prize programmes that cost more than they add.
Long pledge collection tails.

On school grounds no council permit is needed. A route on council parks needs an event permit, and any road use needs a council-approved traffic management plan. Check colour powder for asthma and allergy risks.
