Before

Check your entity is incorporated and re-registered under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
Find which trusts have venues in your area (grants usually go back to the area the money was raised in).
Read each trust's exclusions list before choosing what to ask for.

After

Get quotes (usually two), a committee resolution, bank verification and your latest accounts.
Apply online, one cost item per trust; don't double-fund the same item.
Wait for approval before spending (no retrospective costs).
Spend it exactly as approved, keep receipts, file the accountability report, and acknowledge the funder.
Thank donors, sponsors and helpers, by name where they’re happy with that.

Watch out for

Applying for retrospective costs; missing accountability reports, which blocks future grants.

Incorporated not-for-profits only; no individuals, overseas travel or retrospective costs (AGT). Some groups decline pokie money on principle.
